The Marshal's Visit
8-10 April 2023
Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire
This event clebrates the connection between William Marshal and Tintern Abbey, which was founded by his wife Isabel's family and is where she was buried. The Household will provide a living history encampment with knights and craftspeople from the entourage of William Marshal. The early 13th-century abbot of Tintern and his monks will welcome the Marshal and his entourage, and the abbey will once again ring with the sounds of the medieval monastic offices.

Meet the Normans
20-21 May 2023
Chepstow Castle, Monmouthshire
Step back in time to the years immediately following the Norman Conquest in 1066 when William fitzOsbern, one of William the Conqueror's closest and most trusted friends, started building the first castle at Chepstow. Meet the soldiers and men-at-arms that fought at the Battle of Hastings, as well as monks, craftspeople, and the families of the soldiers who came to Chepstow to make their homes here over 950 years ago. This event is in conjunction with the Chepstow History Festival taking place throughout the town this weekend.

The Battle of Hastings
14-15 October 2023
Battle Abbey, East Sussex
The Household will provide a living history encampment and Norman knights and soldiers at this reenactment of the Battle of Hastings in 1066, one of the most important dates in British history.
