The Marshal's Visit
25-27 May 2024
Tintern Abbey, Monmouthshire
This event clebrates the connection between William Marshal and Tintern Abbey, which was founded by his wife Isabel's family and is where she was buried. The Household will provide a living history encampment with knights and craftspeople from the entourage of William Marshal. The early 13th-century abbot of Tintern and his monks will welcome the Marshal and his entourage, and the abbey will once again ring with the sounds of the medieval monastic offices.

Meet the Normans
27-28 July 2024
Pembroke Castle, Pembrokeshire
Step back in time to the late eleventh century with The Household. The year is 1098, and Arnulf de Montgomery's mighty earth and timber fortress, Pembroke Castle, is now complete. Arnulf has invited craftspeople to Pembroke to embelish the castle and display his high status. He has also recently founded the Benedictine priory at Monkton, to ensure that he is demonstrating his piety. But all is not well, danger lurks just outside the walls. The castle has already been attacked twice and tensions are high.
